Wake Up Sid- Music to brighten ur day!!
After a long hiatus, Shankar Ehsaan Loy is back to composing music for Bollywood movies with Wake Up Sid, an album of refreshing soft rock tracks that will just make u feel good and happy.
The songs all r good, though they sound a bit repetitive, but they make for great casual listening.
Though U cant call the music- great or original, its worth hearing with good renditions by Shankar Mahadevan, Clinton Cerejo et al. The tracks are reminiscent of the kind of soft rock tracks that are played in the soundtrack of Teenage Hollywood movies.
My personal favorites are the songs, Life is Crazy and Wake up Sid. The song Ik Tara is also hummable!!!
In short, Great music for ur Ipod!!! :)

Kaminey: An oasis in the desert of duds
It was a new experience - to watch a movie on the very first day and the very first show, that was how i watched Kaminey today and glad that it didnt turn out to be a disaster.
First thing u can say about the movie is that it is not the typical run-of-the-mill Bollywood movies that follows a repetitive ages old "formula", a refreshing change indeed.
It is not a slick action thriller as the promos suggest, but instead the story of two twins who rediscover themselves in the most extreme circumstances.
The story is well told and the style of narration will u leave spellbound, but at some points it gets too slow. but except for that its a decent movie and lives upto Vishal Bharadwaj's credibility.
Shahid Kapoor delivers the best performance of his career as the twin brothers. He brings to alive both the characters which are as different as chalk n cheese and even the double role has been handled with great technical finesse that u dont feel the presence of a body double in any of the shots. Priyanka Chopra's role is limited to some passionate scenes in the beginning and then for the rest she is simply howling and crying, which she manages to do quite well. The other actors who are not very familiar too deliver a commendable performance.
And another aspect of the movie is the speech disorders of the twin brothers which is quite unique and gives u a few laughs and doesnt irritate u at any point. The lisp of Charlie is really funny indeed and the promotional campaign of the movie has tried to make the viewers aware of that and that too in an ingenious manner of misspelling the movie taglines.
Humour appears in the most unintended manner at the most unnerving places in the movie, which is a welcome sign in contrast to the awful slapstick made-up humor in bollywood movies these days.
Overall, the movie is quite an engaging watch but unwinds at a slow pace that could a be a tad boring. Kaminey thus comes in as the oasis in the desert of dud movies this year.
On a scale of 5, i wud give it a 3.

Flu everywhere!!!
Whats the big deal about Swine Flu, apart from the fact that its a west originated phenomenon sweeping the globe.
Ok, its highly contagious, fine, but we have faced even deadlier flus in the past like Chickunguniya, Dengue and the like, which had created far more mortalities than this new flu. Dont get me wrong, I fully realize the potential hazards of this possible pandemic. But i just get the feeling that this seems to be a over reaction and panicking, instead of exercising restraint and being careful.
1200 global deaths as of now is nothing compared to the flu related mortalities in our country. The figures suggest something else..
Maybe this is a ploy by Pharma companies to boost their soon-to-be-developed vaccines ...
The media should restrain itself from creating panic!!
Hope the Flu doesnt add to the woes of the economy and the people!!

Mobile Phones - some things to think about
Where do you store your mobile phones while on the move??
The answer would most probably be on ur shirt/jeans pocket??
That leaves us with two possibilities of storage on-the-go... either your shirt pocket or your jeans pocket.
Dressmakers had created shirts with pockets conventionally on the left side near to your pocket. Maybe they didnt have the foresightedness back then that people would store these radiation emitters so dangerously close to ur heart. So maybe its time that we have pockets on the right side, however inconvenient it may seem in the beginning, at least to lengthen the pacemaking activity of your heart.
Now the jeans pocket,-
I have felt how tights the pockets are in the denims, yet we manage to squeeze our mobile phones inside them, leaving them near your ****(u know where!!), thus making you eligible for Involuntary Birth Control (circumlocution again, for the sake of non-explicitness). But in case of your jeans, fashionistas have to come up with something ingenious to minimize the radiation exposure below the belt.
I also suspect a divine hand in the invention of mobile phones as a way of controlling the human population on earth. See how indispensable it has become in our day to day lives.
To make matters worse even for the non users, a slew of new Mobile operators are coming up(in the already crowded space) in every state (or circle, as they put it), subjecting our brains with even more radiation than at present from the towers. Maybe the govt should stop issuing fresh licenses and look into the health hazards.
These are just a few concerns about mobile phones, there are even more which havent been found out yet. By the time we will all have been screwed!!!

Conspicuously Coincidental!!

I have always wondered about how similar the brand surnames of TATA are...
Indica, Indigo, Indicom...
But thats not wat i'm referring to in case u r wondering wat so out of the world about that...
Strangely TATA unveiled their GSM brand under the TATA Docomo branding which is a JV with NTT Docomo of Japan. The new Brand Tata Docomo bears some semblance(somewat like an anagram, albeit not exactly) to the original TATA telecom brand, TATA Indicom... Thats why i said, "Conspicuously Coincidental"!!! What else would u say when an incidental JV brings up a similar sounding brand name!!
